Wonderful start out to the summer reading season. I felt like all the characters in this novel could live on my street, no one particular was a mere foil. Perfect of all, my enjoyment did not come down to whether the end was sufficiently surprising or seamless (though essentially for me it was). This is a literary mystery exactly where the plot and characters are additional cared for by the author and ultimately make for an completely satisfying read, substantially like McGovern's Eye Make contact with. Betsy Treading, the major character, is searching to know the surfacing truths about her neighbors and truths in her personal life which are no longer safe to ignore. She's searching for a murderer but in quite courageous and atypical strategies she's also seeking to become a superior person than she was. This is outstanding mystery for the reason that it's also a magnifying look at components of our human situation on a neighborhood scale. Loved it.

This is a treat for all mystery or thriller lovers. Librarian Betsy Treading is convicted for the murder of her eccentric neighbor but then freed on DNA evidence just after twelve years in prison. She must discover the real killer to get restitution from the state. Returning to her old street and questioning her former neighbors, she finds herself forced to confront her personal and their secrets and painful memories. The book dances deftly among present and past as Betsy each learns and comes to don't forget extra and significantly more of what occurred on the night of the murder. In the finish she starts to grasp the truth behind the facades each she and other folks have hidden behind for so lengthy and to carve out a new life for herself beyond prison walls. The lots of themes and twists will preserve the reader guessing till the finish.
