Consumer Evaluations

How do you write a thriller based on a household-owners association? Do not ask Neiderman. He wasn't in a position to pull it off in Neighborhood Watch. You'd get a better answer from Bentley Small, who was profitable in The Association.
Reading the synopsis on the back of the book, it sounds as even though Neiderman employed Little's concept for The Association verbatim. As soon as you start out reading, yet, its clear that Neiderman isn't going to be able to pull it off practically as nicely. Neiderman's suggestions, though suitably strange and creepy, lack actual imagination. He doesn't take a large number of risks with the plot and when his characters are nicely created, they are not altogether likable.
Getting read two Neiderman novels, I also have to say that he does not use supernatural elements wisely. They'd be all too suitable in Neighborhood Watch but his explanation of events is very banal and down-to-earth. Nevertheless in Amnesia, he introduced supernatural elements when his tale could be perfectly told with a realistic explanation.
Regardless, Neighborhood Watch is an entertaining read but it does not reside up to its possible. Rather, check out The Association.

I felt this book was a good, not excellent thriller. It could have been improved, in my opinion, if the heroine was a bit even more sympathetic. Especially at the starting of the book, she came off as somewhat "touchy" and I didn't certainly like her pretty much. So I didn't definitely care what occurred to her. As the book went on she got far better and the ending was better than I'd anticipated.
Would make a fine "Movie of the Week".
